'Celebrating Women' reviewed in Maine Sunday Telegram

The on March 14, 2010 ran a review of 'Celebrating Women,' an exhibition of photographs by Paola Gianturco at the UNE Art Gallery on the Portland Campus. The colorful and energetic show depicts scenes from festivals in Swaziland, Brazil, Morocco, Poland, Sweden and India – all of which focus on and feature women. Reviewer Daniel Kany writes that Gianturco is primarily a social advocate for women."The 40 or so images in the show are handsome and interesting. ... Her images stand firmly in their snapshot-style take on documentary. The commercial c-prints made from her slide film are not fussy, and they work just fine for storytelling."
