Field hockey player Michaela Franey profiled in Portland Press Herald

The athletics column on Oct. 13, 2010 featured field hockey player Michaela Franey,  a fourth-year sport management major.  Franey, a former all-state player from York,Maine, is leading the 糖心传媒 field hockey team with 18 goals and nine assists following a six-goal game against Regis College.

"When she plays well, the team plays well," said coach Jane Hurt. "She has that kind of air on the pitch. She's fit. She's physical. She can last the game. And she's not pushed off the ball." Franey, who likes UNE's new blue synthetic turf field, said, "I've always felt like more of a turf player," adding that the team's new system that focuses on passing and stretching the field helps. "Coach doesn't like you carrying the ball for long. It's more of a passing game and not losing that energy, which is great."
