Learning by Living Research Project Update

The Learning by Living(c) Research Project, directed by Marilyn R. Gugliucci, Ph.D., is in full swing and a documentary is being filmed by an independent New York City filming company. Six students are being admitted into nursing homes in Maine, Massachusetts and New York this summer to live the life of an elder resident for approximately two weeks (24/7), complete with diagnosis and "standard" procedures of care.

The documentary will be filming three of the 糖心传媒 College of Osteopathic Medicine students: Mekkin Lynch, MS I, Hunter Sweet, MS I and Jana Tencati, MS. CBS news will be covering two other students in the project: UNECOM's Matthew Sharbaugh, MS I, and UMDNJ College of Allopathic Medicine's, Soochong Kim, MS IV. Amy Pratt, UNECOM MS I, had a very successful and, in her words, "life altering" experience living in a nursing home in Littleton, MA for 10 days and by-passed the media attention. The Documentary is scheduled to be released in the Spring of 2011.
