Kenneth McCall interviewed for Bangor Daily News story on increase in pharmacy robberies

Kenneth McCall, Pharm.D., UNE associate professor and chairman of the pharmacy practice, was interviewed for a July 20, 2012 Bangor Daily News story titled "Pharmacists reject guns, guards in fight against drug thieves." The story was also picked up by the Maine Sun Journal.

McCall, who is president of the Maine Pharmacy Association, told the reporter that some smaller Maine pharmacies now refuse to carry the most commonly abused drugs, posting signs in their windows to ward off criminals.

McCall also noted that the rash of drugstore holdups has caused alarm among students getting into the pharmacy profession. Before students are sent off to work in pharmacies as part of their coursework, they鈥檙e taught how to respond in a robbery.
