Nananda Col published in The Breast Journal

Nananda Col, M.D., MPP, MPH, a professor of medicine in the 糖心传媒鈥檚 College of Osteopathic Medicine, co-authored an article that was recently published in The Breast Journal.  The article entitled 鈥淧ostmenopausal Women with DCIS Post-Mastectomy: A Potential Role for Aromatase Inhibitors,鈥 explores ways to prevent breast cancer reoccurrences for women diagnosed with non-invasive breast cancer.

Tamoxifen, the standard treatment for preventing the recurrence of breast cancer, has been known to cause negative side effects.  In this article, Dr. Col and her co-author Rowan Chlebowski, M.D., review the results of randomized studies that explore possible alternatives to this drug, including aromatase inhibitors.  The majority of these studies were not large enough to provide concrete evidence about the effectiveness or safety of these drugs.  In this article, Dr. Col explored the effectiveness of the drugs when combined though meta-analysis.
