Maryfrances Smith facilitates Jobs for Maine Graduates annual career and college fair

On April 3, 2015, Maryfrances Smith, program manager for the Maine Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Network Program Office in the School for Community and Population Health, was responsible for organizing, recruiting and faciliting a health careers panel at the Jobs for Maine Graduates annual career and college fair, 鈥淟ive, Learn, and Earn 鈥 right here in Maine.鈥

With student representation from all of UNE鈥檚 colleges for the health professions, sophomores from Deering, Casco Bay and Portland High Schools learned about the many different health career options available, and the various pathways the panelists pursued to reach their educational and professional goals.

This is the second year that the Maine AHEC Network Program Office has participated in this event at the University of Southern Maine. From 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., 250 high school sophomores attended five lively and informative sessions.

The 19 UNE panelists came from the College of Dental Medicine, the Westbrook College of Health Professions, the College of Osteopathic Medicine, the College of Pharmacy and the College of Graduate and Professional Studies.
