Remi Drozd COM ‘07 survives earthquake in Nepal; stays to care for victims

On April 28, 2015, WPRI published a story about Remi Drozd, D.O., a 2007 graduate of the College of Osteopathic Medicine, who was in the midst of a three-month volunteer mission in Nepal when the recent earthquake devastated the country.

Drozd, an emergency room doctor in Fall River, Massachusetts, left for Nepal in February to provide care at a high altitude aid post in the remote village of Manang.

According to the article, when the 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal on April 25, leaving 5,000 people dead, Drozd’s wife, Brittany, feared the worst but was relieved on the following day when she received a brief phone call from Dorzd, who reported that he was safe and was staying in Nepal to care for the victims of the earthquake.
