Steven Byrd publishes article on Peruvian weaving cooperative

Steven Byrd, Ph.D., associate professor of Spanish and Portuguese and director of Latin American Studies, published an article in the summer 2015 issue of Journal for Weavers, Spinners and Dyers on a Peruvian weaving cooperative called Loraypo in which indigenous women weave ancestral Andean textiles.

Byrd鈥檚 article showcases the story of one of the weavers Roxana Cusicuna, whose passion to preserve traditional weaving methods, using organically spun and dyed fibers, led to the creation of Loraypo.

Featured in the article are photographs by Holly Haywood, B.F.A., University photographer.
