Lara Carlson shares expertise on the physiological responses of motorsports drivers in ‘Bangor Daily News’

Lara Carlson, DPE., FACSM, CSCS, associate professor in the Westbrook College of Health Professions and the Center for Excellence in the Neurosciences, discussed her research into how motorsports driver’s bodies respond to the stress of competitive racecar driving in a Bangor Daily News article titled, “Science proves it: Race car drivers are athletes.â€

It is a topic Carlson has studied and given numerous talks on. She has collected data on the extreme conditions drivers face including extreme heat, cardiovascular strain and dangerous G loads.
