‘NECN’ interviews Edward Bilsky about synthetic opioid W-18

Edward Bilsky

On Tuesday, NECN interviewed Edward Bilsky, Ph.D., vice-president of Research and Scholarship, director of the Center for Excellence in the Neurosciences and professor of pharmacology about a deadly synthetic opioid called W-18.

The drug has started to show up in some parts of the U.S. and Canada and Maine law enforcement officials are concerned about the drug coming to Maine. Bilsky explained that W-18 can cause the same type of high as heroin, but it is far more dangerous because it is so potent.
