Recent UNE graduate accepted to the American Occupational Therapy Association’s Emerging Leaders program

Recent ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ Occupational Therapy graduate Rebecca Masterjohn (MSOT ’16) was accepted to the American Occupational Therapy Association’s Emerging Leaders program. The prestigious and selective program seeks to build leadership by pairing emerging leaders in occupational therapy with mentors to work toward the profession’s centennial vision.

Masterjohn specified an interest in research with objectives to increase and accelerate the adoption and application of science-driven, evidence-based O.T. practices that lead to better client outcomes. She also wants to collaborate with AOTF in support of research activities that build the occupational therapy knowledge base, articulate the cost effectiveness of occupational therapy and support quality practice. 

Masterjohn’s accomplishments at UNE include serving as the student delegate to the American Occupational Therapy Association’s Assembly of Student Delegates, scholarly work on productive aging for people with Parkinson’s Disease, research on the effects of using creative arts and storytelling with people who have dementia, Interprofessional Immersion Team leadership and Interprofessional Honors Distinction.
